COB against Carrefour

A Carrefour market from Pilar de la Horadada, Spain, has fired Indira Martínez, an union delegate from the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo, the Spanish section of the International Workers Association. The accusations given to justify this act, if they were true, would only constitute light faults. Her union denounces this manouver as being a part of the company strategy of persecution of workers who fight for their rights.

At a first sight, this may look to us as a distant event, but this is not an isolated case. In its branches all around the world, Carrefour has a history of low wages, not paying extra hours, arbitrary firings and harassment. At one Carrefour from Poland, the management went to the absurd of demanding that the worker stood on a red dot on the middle of the store if s/he wanted to talk to the manager, even when all s/he needed was just to go to the bathroom. In Brazil, the situation isn't very different from these cases.

Transnacionals, like any other capitalist enterprise, follow a global policy of maximization of profit and minimization of the welfare and freedom of the worker, harassing who dares to try to resist exploitation. Confederação Operária Brasileira, the Brazilian section of the IWA, in its solidarity to the oppressed from everywhere in the world, manifests against this practice and calls for the organization of free unions so that we can act in our defence.

In solidarity to our Spanish comrade and to the workers of this company in all over the world, we demand the ending of the global policy of exploitation by the Carrefour supermarkets. We invite the clients, the workers and the population to join us in this struggle.

BOYCOTT CARREFOUR!

FOR THE REHIRING OF INDIRA MARTÍNEZ!

LONG LIVE CNT! LONG LIVE COB! LONG LIVE IWA!

IF GLOBAL IS THE REPRESSION, INTERNATIONAL IS THE RESISTANCE!

ACRACY!
