Chronicle of CNT-IWA Dec 21 Gathering at Complutense University of Madrid

On December 21, a Tuesday, CNT-IWA held a double rally against the CUM within its conflict declared last November. The Complutense is decided on giving us a Rebalancing Plan for Christmas cutting our rights and, on the sly, provoking layoffs and collaboration scholarships, labor relations without contracts, at 450 euros a month pay and hardly any labor rights. Maybe they invited us to the cocktail party people usually have at this time of year to celebrate it. But the Union Section in CNT-IWA preferred to pay them a more personal visit the day before.

Around 15 people gathered first for half an hour at the Ciudad Universitaria metro stop entrance, under the rain and chants of "The Complutense exploits and lays off its workers!" and "False scholorship contracts!" and then we moved to the door of the Rector's office for another 45 minutes.

We hope this convinces the Rector that CNT-IWA won't sit back quietly and watch them bulldoze our rights and that they is no way they are going to pact layoffs or cuts with an anarcho-syndicalist union. We will continue to denounce the hypocrisy of a Rector who exploits his workers and then goes giving talks for ATTAC about global economic justice. We'll fight until we win this conflict: without paid union reps and through direct action.
