Anarcho-syndicalist Initiative has launched an independent national campaign that aims to prevent the holding of the largest NATO conference in its history in Belgrade from June 13 to 15, 2011.
More information on the activities of the campaign can be found on the following website: http://antinato.in.rs
The basic principles of the Anti-NATO Campaign, are:
1. The Anti-NATO Campaign brings together all those who believe that holding a NATO meeting in Belgrade is unacceptable.
2. The Anti-NATO Campaign is against all forms of racism, chauvinism and religious fanaticism. NATO is not just a problem of people in Serbia, but the problem is all over the world. That is why this campaign has an international character and its aim is to organize an international anti-NATO rally in Belgrade.
3. The campaign's goal is not to make pressure to call a referendum. We believe that a referendum is unnecessary because of the effects of the 1999 bombing, especially given the obvious intent of the authorities to use the NATO Conference to suppress any discussion of the issue and to present people with a fait accompli for Serbia to join NATO.
4. All decisions made in the campaign are by the principles of direct democracy, in public meetings of the Campaign, which is independent of all political parties.
Join the fight!
