Subject: Proclamation of a General Strike on April 15, 2011
The USI - AIT, together with its sectoral unions IUR-USI, USI-Health, Postel-USI, USI-LEL, USI Social Cooperatives, USI Arts and Crafts has called a general strike of in the public and private sectors for the entire day of April 15, 2011.
The general strike, in particular, will be held against the Italian military intervention in Libya and the support that Italy gives this bloody and unnecessary war action

but also we strike for:

- the civil acceptance of and solidarity for all immigrants and refugees;
- the elimination of the link between residence and employment contracts;
- the withdrawal of the security package and the closure of the Identification and Expulsion Centers (CIEs);
- the elimination of military spending and against the logic of agression;
- better living and working conditions for all, regardless of ethnicity, language and culture.

All workers employed in essential services are exempt from the strike, as required by the law.
